Vintage Summer Dress with Embroidered Sheer Ivory Overlay

Straight out of "Mad Men", or the movie, "Gidget", this adorable sleeveless, cotton summer dress has a striped peach foundation with a sheer, ivory overlay. The full skirt features horizontal pleating at the hip and delicately-embroidered flowers below. Ivory piping accents the neck, arm holes and waistband. A metal zipper extends from the neck to six inches below the waist. This garment has no labels and has all of the hallmarks of being made by an experienced seamstress, including a hand-stitched hem. It's in very good condition, for its age, but does have a couple of tiny holes in the skirt overlay and one larger tear as shown in the additional photo. This is probably a size 6-8 in modern-day sizes and the measurements are as follows: 16" Shoulder to waist (front), 15" Shoulder to waist (back), 33" bust, 26 1/2" waist, full hips, 24 1/2" waist to hem length.
